As Chair of the SJSU ASIS&T Executive Committee, my personal goal was to create a leadership recruitment and transition process that would allow future Executive Committees to function efficiently immediately upon taking office. We began the process by defining and documenting chapter processes and procedures, organizing our administrative assets, and continually reaching out to our membership for feedback through surveys and social media. During this process, we also hosted many guest speakers and workshops to help members connect to one another and to our larger communities.
Once the 2014-2015 Executive Committee was in place, I created a presentation introducing the chapter and the benefits of active leadership for use in the iSchool's orientation course and the chapter's website. I also contributed a post on leadership to the chapter's blog for the fall semester's membership drive.
